Today is also called the Mooncake Festival because we celebrate with mooncakes on the 15th day of the 8th month of the lunisolar calendar with a full moon at night. Mooncake is made with bean paste and salty egg yolk as fillings. When the cake is cut in half, you will see the "moon" inside!

Kowloon Walled City was a large ungoverned enclave back to 1950s’ to 1980s’. Due to the historical problems, there is no governing of this place and it was controlled by local triads and had high rates of crimes. However, we can still find some interesting angles to get to know this area and the important parts of Hong Kong history behind.

“ I had been flying to Hong Kong Kai Tak Airport (An international airport of Hong Kong from 1925 until 1998) three times. Every time when the flight passing over the very crowded Kowloon City, amazed me.” A 60+ years old guest shared his stories to the staff few months ago.

Sometimes the feeling is deeper when visitors share their stories about the history of your homeland.

Yokai (Japanese means supernatural monsters) in Japan and Hong Kong reflects the society and culture of the time. 香港塑膠工業曾經好發達，1950至1960年代直情可以用輝煌嚟形容。麻雀女員工未經歷過呢段時期，但今日食食下飯見到個黑椒汁兜兜原來係made in Hong Kong, 都有種欣喜嘅感覺。
（之後有洗乾淨回收㗎！）

In the manufacturing heyday of the 1950s and 1960s, Hong Kong’s plastic industry took off. Some brands like Red A plastic crystal became household staples in Asia and even Europe. Staff in the Mahjong never experienced this fascinating period, but still feel proud when we find “Made in Hong Kong” plastic tonight.
