Tea House Theatre Experience @ Tea House Theatre, Xiqu Centre

Tea House Theatre Experience is specially designed to introduce new audiences to Chinese traditional theatre. The 90-minute performance, presented by Xiqu Centre’s very own Tea House Rising Stars Troupe, showcases a selection of short excerpts demonstrating a range of vocal and music styles. It also includes narration by an expert moderator to help newcomers gain insight into the history of the art form.

To recreate the warm, authentic atmosphere of Hong Kong’s early 20th century tea houses, audiences are served traditional tea and dim sum during the performance – a delicious way to learn about the heritage of Chinese traditional theatre.

Programmes run from Wednesday to Sunday every week.

Caméra-stylo As Such, the solo exhibition by Hong Kong moving image and sound artist Anson Mak will be held from 4 to 30 May 2019. Supported by Hong Kong Arts Development Council, this exhibition will present two sets of new works: 𝘖𝘯𝘦 𝘗𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘦, 𝘛𝘸𝘰 𝘚𝘺𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘮𝘴, 𝘛𝘦𝘯 𝘠𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘴, a lens-based media installation explores Kwun Tongers everyday-life spatial practices and changes, as well as objects and landscape of the Kwun Tong Town Centre through photography and moving image; 𝘕𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘊𝘳𝘰𝘴𝘴 𝘈 𝘙𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘛𝘸𝘪𝘤𝘦, a single channel film explores the notion of disappearance, memory, and ways of seeing. A series of outdoor screenings and artist talks will be holding during the exhibition period.

Young Master Invitational Beer Festival is returning for its second year. This year Young Master is making it meaningfully bigger: more than 160 different beers brewed by 21 highest rated breweries from Australia, New Zealand, Denmark, USA, UK, Russia, Vietnam, Estonia, Japan, South Korea, Beijing, Taiwan and Hong Kong will be poured by brewers or brewery representatives during 4 beer-style themed sessions at the festival.
